Women's conference begins Friday

LAKE WYLIE -- Lake Wylie Christian Assembly, 5766 Charlotte Hwy., invites women in the community to its women's conference Friday-Sunday.

Registration for "Women in Relentless Pursuit of God" begins at 10 a.m. Friday, and the conference begins at 1 p.m. There will be breakout sessions Friday and Saturday afternoons.

The featured speaker is Mary Ann Brown, well known throughout the country and for speaking at Christians United Believers conferences, will talk each evening, as well as during Sunday morning and evening services. The public is invited.

The conference costs $30 per person and includes lunch.

Church hosting garden tour

YORK -- Episcopal Church Women of the Church of the Good Shepherd hosts its first-ever "Backyards and Beauty Spots" garden tour Saturday to visit five gardens in the historic district and several beauty spots.

Gardens on tour: Mr. and Mrs. S.K. Lowry, 5 Wright Ave.; Mr. and Mrs. James Bradford, 12 Wright Ave.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hanlon, 208 Kings Mountain St.; Sue Ellen Lee, 7 Kings Mountain St.; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Shultz, 212 E. Liberty St. Beauty spots for peeking: The Courtyard, 22 N. Congress St.; The Sideyard, 9 Kings Mountain St.; and The Garden at Good Shepherd, 108 E. Liberty St.

There will be a plant sale, garden shop and an art sale featuring works by local painters and other artists.

The day also includes a buffet lunch at the church parish hall, 108 E. Liberty St.

Garden tour-only tickets cost $15; lunch-only, $7, or garden and lunch, $20. Garden tour tickets will be available the day of the tour, but advance purchase is required to reserve lunch by May 7.

Nease to speak Saturday at seminar

CLOVER -- Clover ARP Church, 127 Kings Mountain St., Clover, is hosting a free Women's Outreach Seminar at 7 p.m. Saturday featuring Tega Cay resident Leslie Nease, a former contestant on television's "Survivor: China" and current radio host for 106.9.

She will share her testimony and insights in a public presentation for women of all ages, called "Thriving, Not Just Surviving."

A dessert-and-coffee reception, hosted by the men of the church, follows the program.

Senior adult gathering May 12

LAKE WYLIE -- Pine Grove Baptist Church, 5415 Hwy. 557, will host a senior adult gathering from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12. Seniors are invited to come for a Bible Study, free lunch and games.

Pine Grove Christian Academy is accepting applications for summer camp program for ages 4-12.

Divorce Care classes meet 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, with child care provided.

Italian Fest May 14-16

FORT MILL -- St. Philip Neri's 14th annual Italian Festival will kick off 5-9 p.m. May 14 at 229 Munn Road E.

This year, Thursday will be a Grown-Ups Evening Out, featuring live and recorded opera while festivalgoers dine on homemade Italian dishes.

A new feature event includes advance tickets for wine-tasting at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, presented by festival partner Grapevine of Baxter Village) in the gated patio on church grounds.

The festival continues 5-10 p.m. May 15 and 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. May 16.

Register for study

Community Bible Study is registering for the fall study in the Clover/Lake Wylie area.

CBS is an interdenominational Bible study group open to all women of all faiths and all knowledge levels. CBS meets from 9:10 to 11:10 a.m. Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 26 at River Hills Community Church. This year's study will be the book of Revelation.

A Children's Ministry Program is available for ages 2 to 4 and a nursery for infants to age 2.
