• Spring Season Party: The Spring Season Party will be Saturday at Charlotte Knights stadium. Tailgating begins at 4 p.m. in Lot 1, and teams will walk the field at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Knights' game and fireworks. Join us in celebrating a great spring season for LWAA sports.

• LWAA Golf Tournament rescheduled: The LWAA Golf Tournament will be rescheduled to a fall date because of scheduling conflicts with sponsors and players. E-mail questions to

•Football and Cheer sign-ups: We are accepting registrations for football and cheerleading. This is for new and returning football players and cheerleaders. You can find registration forms and requirements on our Web site at There is no draft in Pop Warner. All teams will be assigned based on age and weight requirements. Our next sign up is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 13 at Bi-Lo in Lake Wylie. E-mail or if you have any questions regarding either program.

• Football and Cheerleading Coaches: If you are interested in coaching football or cheerleading, please fill out the online coaches' application on the coaches' page at We will be holding a series of meetings in the next few weeks to review what is new for 2009 and welcoming new coaches coming to us from Clover and Xtreme.

• Baseball Game Results:

May 7: Mets 11, Giants 7. Chris Carnes pitched a great game to lead the Mets. Kaleb Strader went four for four with three runs scored, and Greg Middleton scored two runs for the Mets. The Giants were led by Soren Krause who went two for three at the plate and scored twice. Ryan Shannon had a triple with two RBIs, and Cody Copeland had a double with two RBIs for the Giants.

May 9: Giants 16, Braves 15. With the score tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Ryan Shannon hit a lead-off triple, his third hit of the game for the Giants. Weldon Briggs drove him in for the winning run. Andy Brom, Cody Copeland and Dayne Tober each had two hits for the Giants, including a double from Brom and a triple from Copeland. Soren Krause also singled for the Giants. Taylor Franklin hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning for the Braves. Luke Trowbridge got two hits for the Braves, including a bases-loaded double in the second inning. Chase Calvert, Evan Johnson and Luke Darling also singled for the Braves.

June 20: LWAA Punt, Pass, Kick competition

June 27: Mandatory Pop Warner parents meeting 10 a.m. and final registration
