Sign up for summer program

River Hills Country Club's summer program will consist of eight weeks of junior golf instruction that will cover all facets of the game, along with a program to get children ready for the golf course.

Programs will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. with ages 10 and older beginning June 10 and ages 9 and younger beginning June 11.

The summer series costs $100 for members or $150 for non-members.

Individual sessions cost $20 per week for members or $25 per week for non-members.

Sharks make-up practice Friday

The River Hills Sharks have new team suits, a new assistant coach and a first season with a new league -- the Greater Charlotte Swim League. The Sharks will compete in the third division, with six regular season dual meets (three home and three away), as well as an All-Star meet July 12.

Gators jump in for training

The Landing Gators have about 115 swimmers this year. Katie Dorn takes the helm as head coach bringing years of experience and looks forward to working with returning assistant coaches Amanda Voges, Luke Elston, Moriah Slavens and Rachel Hester.

Tina Rulevich will serve as president of the Landing Gators and the Metrolina Swim League.

• June 4 at Springfield

• June 8 at Tega Cay

• June 11 at home vs. River Hills Country Club

• June 15 at Baxter Village

• June 18 at home meet vs. Shiland

• June 22, reserved for make-up meet if necessary

• June 27, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m.: Invitational Meet and Championship neet at Rock Hill Aquatic Center

• June 28: Team party at The Landing pool


Military Memorial 5K May 30

The Tega Cay Military Memorial 5K and 1-mile Family Fun Run/Walk will be held at 8 a.m. May 30 at Tega Cay Golf Club, 1 Molokai Drive.

Registration divisions include male and female in six age groups, with top three finishers overall and top three in each division receiving medals. The 1-mile fun run/walk is a non-competitive and will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Get ready for Splash Dash

The 16th annual Splash Dash, Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce's annual 10K/5K race and 5K walk, will be held June 13 at Camp Thunderbird/River Hills.

Splash Dash is a ChampionChip event by Queen City Timing and t10K course is USATF Certified. Race starts at 8 am. Walkers will step off at 8:10 a.m.

Registration for the race is $20 in advance, or $25 day of the event. The walk fee is $5, with proceeds going to the Camp Thunderbird Scholarship Fund.
