Clover to host baseball tourneys

The Clover Parks & Recreation Department will be participating in and hosting two Dixie Youth Baseball Sub-District Tournaments the week of July 6-10 at Clover Community Park.

Twelve players from the Majors (ages 11-12) and 12 players from the AAA (ages 9-10) Spring 2009 Clover Parks & Recreation Department Youth Baseball League will represent Clover in the annual Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament with hopes of reaching and winning the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series.

The Region III -- Majors Sub-District will run July 6-9 -- hosting Clover, Union (National) and Rock Hill (National).

The Sub-District Tournament winner will advance to the District Tournament being held the following week in York.

The Region III - AAA Sub-District will run July 6-10 -- hosting -- Clover, Union (National), Rock Hill (National), Chester (National) and York (Central). The Sub-District Tournament winner will advance to the District Tournament being held the following week in Lancaster.

The price of opening night admission costs $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and children ages 7-16, and free for children 6 and younger. Other days of the tournament, admission costs $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and children ages 7-16, and free for children 6 and younger.

The Clover Parks & Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to help with ticketing, parking, field maintenance, public address announcing and sing the national anthem.
