Fort Mill elementary schools six and seven, both under construction and slated to open in 2009, might receive proper names in the near future.
The school board Monday night received recommendations from a committee that suggested Nation Ford Elementary School for elementary school six and Pleasant Road Elementary School for number seven. Number six is on Farmhouse Road in a parcel adjacent to Nation Ford High. The seventh is being built off Pleasant Road.
Second and third choices for six were Sugar Creek Elementary and Greenway Elementary. Second and third choices for seven were Pleasant Ridge Elementary and Northwest Elementary.
The committee was composed of Chuck Epps, district assistant superintendent of administration and instruction; Springfield Elementary Principal Scott Frattaroli; elementary school teacher Denise Reichenbach; Pleasant Road community member Rusty Adkins; and Springfield area community member Bobby Osborne.

The committee members sought recommendations from parents, community members and faculty, Epps said.
The proposed school names will get some media exposure before the next meeting, board member Michael Johnson pointed out.
"I think we'll get more feedback before the next meeting," he said.
A total of 42 names were suggested for the sixth school. They ranged from the sublime -- Strawberry Fields, Hillside and Spring Branch elementary -- to the ridiculous -- Fort Mill Good School and The United School of America. Board members, hoping for more feedback, expect to make a decision soon.
