The Fort Mill Lady Jackets finished third in the second annual BB&T Fort Mill Invitational at Manchester Meadows over the weekend.
With their games rained out on Saturday, Fort Mill beat Irmo 3-2 on Sunday. The Lady Jackets had goals from sophomore Sarah Bird and freshmen Hali Singleton and Kaitlyn Marr.
Keepers Alexis McLaine has three saves and Hattie Ruch had two saves. On Friday, Fort Mill tied Charlotte Catholic 1-1. Dutch Ford won the tournament with Lexington finishing second.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Jackets proved they can bring the heat every game once again after skunking Rock Hill 9-0. McLaine and Ruch both took their turn as keeper, even though it proved to be uneventful for both players. Rock Hill, in fact, did not even get a single shot in.

Bearcat keeper Maggie Rogers stayed on her toes though. In the first half alone, the Lady Jackets managed to take 17 shots, four of which met the net. Either the goal post or Rogers managed to get in the way of the other 13 goals.
Senior Lexi Wilden kicked off the game at the 19th minute as she capitalized on a rebounding corner kick. Bird headed an assist to Taylor Parker for a second goal. Bird later scored two more goals for the Jackets.
Fort Mill's efficiency sky rocketed in the second half though, with a 5-5 record of shots to goals.
Within the first few minutes of the second half, both Megan Killmeyer and Becca Tooley had added goals five and six to the board. Merciless, Bird then went and achieved a hat trick at the 45 minute mark.
Not allowing Bearcat Maggie Rogers a breather, Wilden ensured another goal with an assist by Parker. Parker then put in her two cents as, what was supposed to be a pass, trickled into the goal and became the ninth and last score of the night.
