I am constantly told by so many people in the area who are not in the real estate industry how bad the real estate market is right now.

Where are they getting this information?

I guess the media? The media is taking what has happened in other states' markets and making it sound like it is a nationwide problem. I think it is time for Realtors to stand up and say "Hey, Wait a Minute. Our market is great."

I can tell you interest rates are wonderfully low right now for buyers who can buy a home. Home inventory is plentiful for buyers who want to buy a home, and the percentage between actual list price and sale price is still around 95 percent. What does this tell you? "Days on market" have been a little longer than expected, but this is due to the media scaring the public.

The National Association of Realtors has put tons of information out about about how each market is different and can not be compared. The Carolina market is strong and thriving. I hear people say they are scared about the economy, scared about the election, scared about lender problems. Please listen to yourself and think about his. The economy will control itself. We can't do anything but continue to move forward and buy what we need. If we move forward this will help our economy thrive and regain strength.

The election is coming no matter what and not matter who becomes president, it won't matter one way or the other regarding what we do. Lender issues are only for those people who have credit issues and they need to work with someone who can help them to rebuild their scores so they can buy a home when they are ready. If you are a good solid buyer, don't wait. This is truly a great market we are in, and the interest rates are low. There are lots of homes to choose from. Get out there and buy the home of your dreams.

The media doesn't live your life - only you do. Don't look back and wish you had taken advantage of this wonderful time to buy your home. If you don't believe me, ask anyone in real estate who knows the market. They will tell you the same thing I am telling you. If you are planning to buy a home, buy now. If you need a real estate consultation or a consultation with a lender about your financial situation, call someone you trust.

Don't listen to the media. They're not in the real estate industry.
