TAKE THAT: Loss could be a good thing

After coming off a winning streak last week, defeating both Lancaster and Northwestern, the Fort Mill boys tennis team had what head coach Willie Ware described as a "reality check" after losing to Charlotte Latin.

"This was our first loss of the season," said Ware, who views losses as tools for improvement. "Hopefully this will help launch our team to greater heights."

The team started out the week strong with a win against South Pointe, bringing its record to 7-0 for the season.

Wins for the team were from Chase Lee 6-1, 6-1; Jordon Luken 6-1, 6-2; Jon Ernst 6-1, 6-3; Kyle Patterson 6-2, 6-4; Nick DiMatteo 7-5, 7-5; Lee/Luken 8-4, and Chase Riddle/Chase Lovins 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.

The final score for the match against Charlotte Latin was 7-2. Winning for Fort Mill were Paul Shaw 6-3, 6-0 and Jordon Luken/Jon Ernst 8-7 tiebreaker score was 8-6.

The other scores included William Reigel 5-7, 6-7, tiebreaker 4-7, Robbie Davis 0-6, 2-6; Kyle Orsburn 0-6, 3-6; Chase Lee 4-6, 3-6, Jordon Luken 3-6, 2-6; Reigel/Davis 6-8 and Daniel Proctor/Tyler Davis 3-8.
