Battle of the birds coming

With spring break this week, the Nation Ford Lady Falcons will have a lot of time to get ready for their game against the Clover Lady Eagles.

Right now, Nation Ford is second in Region III-AAAA behind Clover, which holds the number one spot. The Lady Falcons' only loss this year in the Region came against Clover 5-3 March 20.

Now the Lady Falcons, who are 10-1 in the region and 14-3 overall, look to even the score April 15, when the two meet again.

This past week, Nation Ford picked up two more wins against York, 5-1 and Rock Hill 12-2.

Against York, junior pitcher Heather Hammond allowed just three hits and helped guide the Lady Falcons. Nation Ford scored two runs in the top of the first inning to get things started.

The Lady Falcons collected six hits in the game as freshmen Devan McCurry, Makenzie Barbor and Brittany Baker all collected doubles for Nation Ford.

Nation Ford would add three more runs in the fourth inning and allowed York to score its only run in the bottom of the seventh.

Against Rock Hill, Nation Ford scored 12 runs on 12 hits and were led by Hammond on the mound, who allowed just three hits and the Bonham sisters at the plate.

Sophomores, Jessica Bonham went 3-3 with a two doubles and a triple, and her sister, Jennifer, went 2-3. Junior Brittany Jones also went 2-3 with two doubles.

The Lady Falcons opened the game with five runs and scored five more runs in the third inning to blow the game open.
