Clemson senior Cliff Hammonds and Duke senior DeMarcus Nelson have played over a 100 college basketball games in arenas all over the country, but soon they will be playing at Fort Mill High.
Recently, these two finished their careers and now local fans will be able to come out and see them in action at the Fort Mill High gym at 7:30 p.m. April 24, as part of the 30th annual ACC Barnstorming Tour. The ACC players will be playing local area players from surrounding high schools.
Fort Mill Athletic Director and head boys basketball coach Bailey Jackson said he is thinking about reassembling his seniors to play.
"Obviously, the college guys will have some advantage," Jackson said.
The game could also include other local basketball players from Northwestern and other high schools. The game will benefit the Fort Mill High Booster Club.
In addition to the game, there is scheduled to be a slam dunk contest and a three-point contest open at halftime. Both of these are open to local fans. Also, an autograph session after the game is planned.
"We expect to have a sellout," Jackson said. "This game will be a good way for ACC fans to have a great night of basketball and support their local schools."
ACC players scheduled to play include Duke's DeMarcus Nelson, Clemson's Cliff Hammonds, James Mays, Matt Moore, and Sam Perry; N.C. State's Gavin Grant and Chad Williams and University of North Carolina's Quentin Thomas and Surry Wood.
Other players from Wingate and UNC-Greensboro also make up the roster for the ACC Barnstorming tour.
A limited number of VIP tickets are available. VIP tickets include reserve seating behind the bench and a dinner/reception for the ACC players after the game.
Tickets are on sale at Fort Mill High School. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
