A game shortening rain delay of about 45 minutes Monday couldn't dampen the bats of Fort Mill American Legion Post 43 which dominated Chester Post 23 6-4.
Although the score didn't reflect it, Fort Mill consistently played well in all aspects of the game. Post 43 was out hit 9-8, but managed to get timely hits with men on base.
On the mound, Montreat College's David Flanagan went six innings and struck out 10, despite giving up nine hits. He walked just one batter and had his biggest struggles in the first inning.
In the bottom of the first, Flanagan gave up three hits as Chester quickly went up 2-0.

In the third inning, after three straight walks from Chester, Post 43 added two more runs on a pair of fielder's choices by Thomas and catcher Michael Baker. Post 43 added another run in the fourth when Fort Mill High's Jonathan Romano scored on an error.
Chester did make a game of it late by scoring two runs on three hits in the sixth inning to make it 5-4, but in the top of the seventh, Post 43 Alex Bebeau smashed a solo home run to give Fort Mill some insurance.
Piedmont College's Frank Mitlin came in as relief in the bottom of the seventh and pitched a flawless inning, getting a strikeout to end the game.
