New bakery to open June 16

Breadsmith, known for hand-crafted artisan breads made in the tradition of master bakers, will open a bakery Monday, June 16, at 2000 Hwy. 160 West, Fort Mill. The store will be owned and operated by Mark and Lisa Daubenspeck.

"We are on a mission to show people what a truly great experience they can have with bread," said Daubenspeck. "We will not only hand-craft every loaf, but create and bake in a time-honored, traditional way right here on the premises, using only the highest quality ingredients, without additives or preservatives."

Breadsmith specializes in crusty, European-style breads, made fresh from scratch daily with no preservatives or additives, and baked in a four-ton, stone-hearth oven imported from Europe. The Fort Mill store will the first in South Carolina and 33rd Breadsmith nationwide.

Smiles by Design welcomes new staff

Dr. BriAnna Schraw, DMD, PA, is proud to welcome two new staff members to Smiles by Design. Lisa Hudgins is a Registered Dental Hygienist with more than 20 years of experience. Hudgins is originally from Franklin, N.C., but moved to Fort Mill in 2006.

"I enjoy educating my patients on their needs and making their appointments personable and pleasant experiences," Hudgins said.

Julie Fedderson became a Registered Dental Hygienist after graduation from Ohio State University in 2005. She recently moved to the area.

"My goal is to provide our patients with the best dental experience possible," Fedderson said.

Dr. Schraw graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina Dental School in 2002.

Smiles by Design has been providing quality dental care for the whole family since it opened in Fort Mill's Baxter Village in August 2005.


IL Chamber meets

The next monthly meeting of the Indian Land Area Council of the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce will be held 8 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Indian Land office of Blackwell Trimnal attorneys. The guest speaker is Tom R. McDougal, Jr. of Springs Memorial Hospital.

McDougal was named to this position in early January, and will give an update on the hospital and its future plans.

'Platinum' sales winners named

Sales Associates Ben Bowen, Lynne Dayton, Jon Haldane and Rodney Jones were all recognized as "Platinum Sales Persons" ($10 million or more in sales), each selling more than $28 million in 2007. Bowen, Dayton and Jones are sales associates at Springfield in Fort Mill. Haldane is a sales associate at the Sanctuary on Lake Wylie.

Sales Manager Craig Martin was recognized in the "Platinum Sales Managers" category ($15 million or more in sales) with $82,914,619 in sales.
