Charlotte man arrested after chase
A Charlotte man was arrested after a deputy pulled him over for a traffic violation on Carowinds Boulevard on Thursday, July 31, and allegedly found illegal narcotics in his car, according to a York County Sheriff's Office report.
Melvin James Washington, 26, of 8000 Andover Creek Drive, is accused of giving the deputy a false name and address. The deputy said a search of the car revealed 14 grams of marijuana, a scale and an empty jar with a white powder residue police claim is cocaine. After being handcuffed, Washington allegedly fled into nearby woods, where he was found by a K-9 unit, according to the report.

A Myrtle Beach man's car was broken into on Foot Hills Way on Thursday, July 31, according to a sheriff's office report.
The victim stated that an unknown suspect punched the driver's side lock out on his white, 2004 Ford Expedition, according ot the report. Numerous items were stolen, including a Dell and a Macintosh lap top, a Nikon digital camera and a Garmin GPS. The total value of the items is $11,010, according to the report.
Teens accused of drinking in woods
Four teenagers were charged with underage drinking and unlawful entry in a wooded area at the end of Fox Run Drive on Saturday, Aug. 2, according to a sheriff's office report.
The teens, camped out on private property, were allegedly found with numerous cans of beer, according to the report. One of the teens is accused of possessing a scale and 27 grams of marijuana. That teen was issued a summons and released into his mother's custody because he is under 18.
A Fort Mill woman's truck was stolen from outside of her home on Calhoun Street sometime between last Sunday night and Monday morning, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report. The vehicle is valued at $12,000, according to the report.
