Mrs. Avadell Dabbs Smith, 84, of Indian Land, died Thursday, April 16, 2009.

The funeral was- held April 19 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Pressley officiating. Burial was in Unity Cemetery.

Whitesell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Wilburn Cranford

Mr. Wilburn Eugene Cranford, 73, of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at his home.

Memorial services were held April 22 at Whitesell Funeral Home.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Cranford was a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Frances Elizabeth Carter Cranford. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Cranford is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mote Cranford; two sons, Neil Nelson and Eric Lee Cranford; one daughter, Ginger Marie Perales; one stepdaughter, Barbara Ann Hardin of Dallas, N.C.; two brothers, Delbert and Harvey Cranford both of Fort Mill; a sister, Wincy Sullivan of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Douglas, Hubert, Kenneth and Reggie Cranford and three sisters, Doris Montague, Mary Jack Newell and Rebecca Smith.

Francis Mack Jr.

Mr. Francis Murray Mack Jr., 93, of Fort Mill, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Pineville, N.C., Rehab and Living Center.

Graveside services were held at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland, Fla.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Mack was the son of the late Francis M. Mack Sr. and Elizabeth Nims Mack.

He was a retired chemist with the Univer-sity of Florida and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Lakeland.

He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 56 in Fort Mill, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Confederacy, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Retired Teachers of Polk County, a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of the Mississippi State Guard.

Mr. Mack is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Duke Mack; one daughter, Iris Delores Talkington and her husband, John of Fort Mill; one brother, William Mack of Washington State; and two grandchildren, Jason Talkington and his wife, Gaby and Justin Talkington; and one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Talkington.
