The U10 team soccer team coached by Mark Seren competed against teams from around the state to win the Palmetto State Cup Championship in Columbia recently.
The team is one of two teams organized by the Upper Palmetto Futbol Club in 2008.
"Instead of our local kids going to play on teams in Charlotte, Rock Hill and other communities, we started the club [here]," said team founder Chris Quinn of Fort Mill.
"Joey Blenthen of the Tega Cay Parks and rec. program and I saw a need for traveling soccer teams to compliment the program in Tega Cay."

And travel they do. One stop on their way to the Palmetto Cup title was a qualifying tournament.
"The team competed in the St. Pat's Day Cup in Columbia and qualified for the Palmetto Cup," said Quinn, who coaches the U11 team for the club.
The program has quickly found a niche.
"We are developing solid players and the team has worked hard to win," Quinn said.
He gets a lot of credit from Blenthen, who looks forward to adding more teams.
"Chris [Quinn] did a great job getting the two teams off the ground," Blenthen said. "We really are looking forward to expanding in the fall by adding U12 and U15 for boys and U12 and U14 for girls."
The club is registered with the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association.
