I have been very fortunate to be able to do a lot of different things in my life and somehow it just keeps getting better!

Mat Carnes, an Indian Land resident, owns the semipro football team the Carolina Bulldogs. Mat invited us to come to the first practice session at the Sports Connection field in Charlotte.

David Frost wrote, "Don't aim for success if you want it, just do what you love and believe in and it will come naturally."

It was 89 degrees, but all 29 players were very happy and excited to be there. They all have full-time jobs but the love of football brings them all together.

We saw shuttle runs, a three-cone drill and a 40-yard dash. Wow! That 40-yard dash? Several of the players ran it in 4.3 seconds (remember this was there first practice session) and they looked like Shawn Crawford going for the gold medal.

They were all so enthusiastic, clapping and supporting each other. Courtney Daily is the general manager of the team and also the quarterback. He was so welcoming to everyone and, boy, could he throw that football! There are about six on the team from Indian Land.

Spending more time with positive people make you feel more upbeat, too. The fact is perky moods and cheerful outlooks are contagious - we actually catch them from the people around us. It was a fun day.

I always feel sad when the Super Bowl is over, so I am delighted we can watch the games during the summer season right in our area. Their season starts July 19 with a game in Monroe and on Aug. 8 they will play at Indian Land High School.

Enjoy these games in a family atmosphere as well as great football. The also have concession stands that sell everything from fish to funnel cakes.

Support these guys - they deserve it!
