Car wins arts award

Lisa Car, 16, took first place for digital photography and won best overall in the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools' Fine Arts Competition. Car entered the com-petition through Walnut Grove Christian School.

Her entry, "Lily Life," won third place in the national competition held in Greenville. In February, she took first, second and third place for her digital photography entries at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.

Turner on Pfeiffer Dean's List

Jonica Turner of Fort Mill was named to the Dean's List at Pfeiffer University for the fall 2008 semester.

In order to be selected for Dean's List, full-time students must maintain a 3.50 or higher grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Students who made the Dean's List received formal recognition during a special banquet held in their honor.

Christensen, Riley receive scholarships

Gardner-Webb University, located in Boiling Springs, N.C., announced that Erica Julie Christensen and Maura Elissa Riley have been awarded scholarships to attend the university.

Christensen is the daughter of Doug and Esther Christensen of Tega Cay and a senior at Fort Mill High School.

Riley is the daughter of Michael and Mandy Riley of Fort Mill and a senior at Nation Ford High School.

Hill makes Dean's List

Zakk Hill, the son of Eddie and Kary Hill of Fort Mill, made the Dean's List for the fall semester at the College of Charleston. He was also inducted into the Tau Sigma Honor Society.

Hill is a sophomore at College of Charleston and is majoring in accounting.

Damm makes President's Lists

Arielle N. Damm received outstanding academic achievement for the fall semester at Clemson University and was placed on the President's List and the President's List in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Students must earn a 4.0 grade-point average to receive this honor.

Damm is the daughter of Cathy and David Damm of Fort MIll.

Wade sisters achieve honors

Kirstin Wade was named to the President's Honor Roll at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She achieved a 4.0 grade-point average to be awarded this honor. She has achieved this honor for most of her three years at USC.

Kirstin is a 2006 graduate of Fort Mill High School and is the daughter of Buddy and Sabrina Wade.

Collette Wade was named to the Dean's List for the fall semester of 2008 at Clemson University. She was required to have a 3.5 grade-point average to be named to the

Dean's List. She is a freshman at Clemson and graduated from Fort Mill High

School in 2008.

Kirstin and Collette are the daughters of Buddy and Sabrina Wade of Fort Mill.

Chapman graduates

Kari Elizabeth Chapman graduated May 5 from USC Upstate in Spartanburg with a Bachelor of Arts in child psychology and Deans List and Phi Mu honors. Chapman was a 2005 graduate of Fort Mill High School and is the daughter of Lori B. Leslie and Jimmie K. Chapman of Fort Mill.

She plans to pursue a career in child psychology.

Support group for parents meets

A parent support group for children with any disorder, disability or learning issues meets at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road in Fort Mill. The group discusses coping skills, experiences, self care and school-related issues. For details, call 802-4484.
