How do you describe someone who has beauty, brains and a whole lot of talent?

It's Caitlin Simmons, a junior at Indian Land High School. Caitlin is competing for the 2009 Miss S.C. Teen Pageant July 11-12 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Greenville. Nine former Miss Teen USA's have become Miss USA.

Caitlin has won every photography award at Indian Land High School. She is a student in the Ambassador Program that sent her to Europe last year, and she's in the National Beta Club with an "A" average. She has published 100 poems on the Internet at and is in the high school's Reading Poetry Out Loud program.

Caitlin is in the process of making a movie called "Ebony Bronze," directed by Elle Shepard. It's set in medieval times and is being filmed in Augusta, Ga. It will be shown at the Sundance Festival in Idaho.

Her first love is acting, but a close runner up is her love of animals - particularly horses. She has been riding and training them since the age of 8.

The problem is that Caitlin needs some sponsors. This does not mean that she is not doing things for herself. Caitlin has a lot of ingenuity; She held a major yard sale at her grandmother's house in Pineville, N.C. She will also be working at Carowinds this summer.

We all share a purpose to use our talents to make the world a better place and at 17, she certainly is doing this.

This girl needs and deserves our support, let's get her to that pageant.

I know we are looking at a future Miss USA.
