Indian Land soccer club holds tryouts
The Indian Land Soccer Club is preparing for fall and spring travel teams. Tryouts will be held 6-7:30 p.m. May 27-28 at the soccer fields behind the Indian Land Rec. Center on Hwy. 521.
This will be a 90-minute session to evaluate player skills. Plan to attend at least one of the sessions. Tryouts will be held for ages 8-16.

Tega Cay hosts tennis event
May is National Tennis Month, and the United States Tennis Association is serving up a community initiative across America. In Tega Cay, the Tennis Block Party is being hosted by the Mid-Carolina Tennis Association at the Tega Cay Tennis Club 9 a.m.1- 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30. The event is a festival of games, lessons and contests for players of all abilities. It is free and open to the public. Children under 10 can experience the USTA's new Quick Start Play Format. Mixed doubles players wanted

The Tega Cay Military Memorial 5K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk - Presented by Recon Fitness Adventures in Association with Tega Cay Parks and Recreation, will be held 8 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Tega Cay Golf Club.
The event is the second of a three-event 5K series that will be conducted in Tega Cay during 2009. T-Shirts with event logo and SWAG bags will be presented to all 5K runners.
Registration divisions include male and female age group categories, including 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
The 1-Mile fun run/walk is a noncompetitive event that will commence at 8:15 am. Medals will be awarded to children 17 and below who finish the event.
A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Tega Cay Parks and Recreation.

Youth hoops camp offered
The Nation Ford High School Boys Basketball coaching staff will be holding a summer youth basketball camp 8 a.m.-noon June 9-12 from for boys and girls ages 7-14 at Nation Ford High School.

Soccer academy coming
The Midwest Soccer Academy is coming to Tega Cay this summer.
It will be hosted by the Tega Cay Parks and Recreation Department July 13-17.
The week-long camp offers three-hour and five-hour programs. The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of the MSA staff flown to the U.S. exclusively to perform a series of summer soccer coaching clinics. The cost is $129 for a half-day for U13 and above and $$159 for U6-U12 for full-day sessions.
