Mr. Joseph A. Gulasky, 66, of Tega Cay, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, N.C.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Joanne Sizoo officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Born in Richmond, Va., Mr. Gulasky was the son of Anne Grigsby Gulasky and the late Joseph Gulasky. He was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church and a member of the Grace Notes Choir. He was active in the Tega Cay Lions Club, having served as president. After retiring from the engineering field, Mr. Gulasky became a realtor/broker for Allen Tate Realty. He was a member of the Tega Cay Vintage Club. Joe and Sue enjoyed golfing together, fishing on the lake and at the beach and taking vacations with friends and family.

Mr. Gulasky is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sue Reitz Gulasky; his mother, Anne Gulasky of Williamsburg, Va.; his sister, Carol Gulasky Ranes of Williamsburg; his brother-in-law, Jack Reitz and his wife, Connie, of Williamsburg; his nephew, Stephen Shepard and his wife Jennifer of New Jersey; and many aunts and cousins.

Cora Williams

Mrs. Cora Lee Sexton Williams, 87, of Indian Land, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at White Oak Manor in York.

The funeral was held June 15 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Aubrey Smith and Mickey Smith officiating. Burial followed at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgemoor.

Born in Chester, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Henry and Lillian Lee Campbell Sexton. She attended the Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Robert H. Simpson of Indian Land and Edward M. Simpson of Rome, Ga.; two daughters, Mary L. Wiggins of Deltona, Fla., and Ruth E. Neeley of Blythewood; two brothers, Daniel Sexton and Frank Sexton, both of York; her sister, Lillie B. Davis of Atlanta; 77 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter P. Simpson, a granddaughter, Julie Ratcliffe, two sisters and three brothers.

Mel Cooper Jr.

Mr. "Mel" Lester Melvin Cooper Jr., 58, of Fort Mill, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Huntersville Oaks in Huntersville, N.C.

A memorial service was held June 13 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Caruso officiating. Burial was in Memphis, Tenn.

Born in Memphis, Mr. Cooper was a son of the late Lester Melvin Cooper Sr. and Peggy Long Cooper. He graduated from Memphis Technology Institute. Mr. Cooper was a U.S. Army veteran, where he was in the Army Security Agency, serving in Okinawa and Vietnam. He was the National Comptroller for the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS). Mr. Cooper was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee football, Duke basketball and Carolina Panthers football. He loved horses and was the coach of Carolina Impact Girls Softball Team.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his long-time companion, Pamela G. Tysinger; two sons, Scott Cooper of Abilene, Texas, and Todd Cooper of Fort Mill; his extended family, Crystal Maze (John) of Charlotte, Tiffany Pettit (Conan) of Fort Mill and Amanda Griffin (Jad) of Fort Mill; two brothers, Gary Cooper of Tennessee and Jeff Cooper of Arkansas; and grandchildren, Scotlyn Cooper, Irelyn Cooper, Jacob Pettit, Mackenzie Maz, and Sophie Maze.

Gene Hammond

Mr. Gene Watford Hammond, 79, Hensley Road, Fort Mill, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services were held June 15 at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife, Ruth Moore Hammond; a daughter, Patricia H. Buchanan and a granddaughter, Angie Freeman.

Ray Therrell

Daniel Ray Therrell, 58, of Wilson Park Lane, Indian Land, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Carolina's Medical Center.

A memorial service was held June 9 at Fort Mill Funeral Home.

Teresa Naveken

Mrs. Teresa Clare McGoldrick Naveken, 83, of Fort Mill, died Friday, June 6, 2009, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be at a later date in Connecticut.
