Melton completes training

Army Pvt. Michael Melton has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Melton, the son of Phyllis Melton of Indian Land, is a 1992 graduate of Indian Land High School.

Henry is an Airman

Air National Guard Airman Jeremiah M. Henry graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Henry, the son of Joseph Henry of Fort Mill, earned distinction as an honor graduate.

West reports for assignment

Air Force Airman 1st Class Monty R. West II has arrived for duty at Dover Air Force Base, Del.

West, a C-5 aircraft loadmaster, is assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing.

He is the son of Monty West of Miller, Mo., and Cindy Randles of Fort Mill.
