This time last week, Nation Ford High School's marching band was out of commission. Twenty percent of the band's members were sick with the flu or severe colds and Director Martin Dickey had to cancel an appearance at last Friday's home football game and pull out of a competition the following day.
They feel a whole lot better today.
Nation Ford, only in its third year of existence, captured the Upper State title.
Meanwhile, Fort Mill High School's marching band, which tuned up last week with a competition in Ohio and came home with major awards, also won an Upper State crown Saturday.

Indian Land High School took second place in its Upper State tournament.
The schools compete in different classes, which are based on school population.
Fort Mill, Nation Ford and Indian Land will all be competing in next week's S.C. state tournament.
