Fresh out of jail, men found passed out in public

Two men were arrested last week after police found them intoxicated just hours after being released from jail.

On Wednesday, a Fort Mill man was found passed out drunk on the side of the highway shortly after he was released from jail on charges of public drunkenness, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report states deputies found the 45 year-old lying next to Hwy. 21 near the Catawba River Bridge. He told police he had beendrinking Jack Daniels Whiskey all day after being released from the Rock Hill jail.

He was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct.

Then on Thursday, officers found a 45-year-old Rock Hill man passed out by the ice machine at Quick C on Cherry Road. He was sitting on the sidewalk and smelled strongly of alcohol, according to a Rock Hill police report.

He had slurred speech and couldn't stand. The man told police he just got out of Moss Justice Center and was "drunk as hell," the report states.

He was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct.
