Resident faces multiple charges

A Fort Mill man was arrested and charged with attempted murder Saturday night, according to the York County Detention Center website.

Gary Bernard Crockett, 36, is being held on a $470 bond, the website shows.

His charges include attempted murder, first-degree burglary and malicious injury to a tree or house.

Report: Pregnant woman attacked baby’s daddy

A Fort Mill man called police after being attacked by his pregnant girlfriend, according to a Fort Mill Police report.

The man, 23, told police that his 19-year-old girlfriend, who is seven months pregnant, punched him in the face and grabbed him around the neck because another woman had come over to the man’s house, the report states. The alleged attack was reported May 18 st around 11:45 a.m. at a home off Joe Louis Street.

Police observed the man had swelling around his eye and marks around his neck. The woman told police her boyfriend also hit her, but she couldn’t give any details, the report states. The man admitted to pushing her away in self-defense and declined to pursue criminal charges against the woman.

The woman was instructed to leave the house and return to her own residence.

Kids shoot rocks at neighbors

Children at a Fort Mill apartment complex allegedly shot rocks with a slingshot at a neighbor checking her mail, according to a Fort Mill Police report.

The report states the apartment manager at Forest Ridge Apartments called police May 15 to report the incident. She told police a tenant’s children had shot homemade slingshots at a woman checking her mail. The woman was not seriously injured. The manager told police the children have also been shooting rocks into the swimming pool. When she confronted their father, he became angry, the report states, and made hostile comments.

Police contacted the 29-year-old father and asked him to supervise his children more closely. He told police the children did have slingshots but didn’t shoot anyone. No criminal charges were filed.

Boat is missing

A boat used in the construction of the new Catawba River bridge linking Fort Mill and Rock Hill was reported missing on May 14, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The green, 2010 Tracker aluminum boat belongs to Rea Contracting of Charlotte. It was valued at $900.

$1,200 stolen from Fort Mill home

Police say a Fort Mill teen watched while his sister and her friend kicked in the door to their parents’ bedroom and stole more than $1,200.

Deputies spoke with a Fort Mill couple who said they returned home on Monday to find their back door open and some money missing, according to a York County Sheriff’s report.

They said only their children would know the places where they randomly hid money in their house, the report states.

Police questioned the couple’s son, who admitted to letting his sister and her friend into the house, according to the report. He said they tried to open their parents’ bedroom with a kitchen knife until the teen helped them kick down the door.

He said he stood inside the bedroom while the others searched it, taking antibiotic pills and money, the report states.
