A joint investigation through Fort Mill Police and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of two men who are accused of abducting a Herald paper carrier at gunpoint earlier this week.
Trumane Tee Daniel, 27, and Jeremy Lechloe Thomas, 23, both of Lancaster, were arrested Thursday evening after they were found at a Chase Madison Drive address in Lancaster, according to a Fort Mill Police news release. Daniel and Thomas are charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.
They are being held in the Lancaster County Detention Center.
Charges through Fort Mill Police are pending. Arrest warrants are expected by early next week, the release says.
The carrier told police he stopped at the Love’s Truck Stop at 235 Sutton Road to grab a few items before he started his paper route at about 3:45 a.m. and two men approached him and asked for a ride, according to a Fort Mill Police report.
The man told them that he couldn’t help them because of his paper route, the report says.
That’s when one of the men took out a handgun, got in the vehicle with the victim and forced him to drive them to an unknown location outside Fort Mill city limits, the report says.
The man was not hurt in the abduction and drove himself to the police department to file a complaint.
“We are very happy that this investigation came together so quickly,” Lancater County Sheriff Barry Faile said in a news release. “Our investigators and the investigators from Fort Mill were able to work well together to get these violent individuals off the street. Job well done.”
