A Charlotte woman died in Fort Mill Sunday evening after the motorcycle she was a passenger on collided with a pickup truck.
Brittany Kitzmiller, 26, died at 6:35 p.m. from injuries suffered during the crash, said York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.
When officers responded to the scene, they found Kitzmiller and the driver, 25-year-old Bobby Montgomery of York, lying in the roadway on U.S. 21 near Creekside Drive, according to a Fort Mill police report. Police observed that Kitzmiller was unresponsive and Montgomery suffered head and chest injuries.
The 59-year-old driver of the 1996 Dodge pickup told police he was driving onto the highway when the collision occurred, the report states. He also said that he was in the car with his 22-year-old grandson at the time of the accident, but neither of them were injured.

The report lists Kitzmiller as living in Pineville. Most of her family lives out of state, Gast said.
Montgomery was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.
Neither Mongtomery nor the truck’s driver, of Rock Hill, will face charges at this time, said Capt. Bryan Zachary with the Fort Mill Police Department.
Also Sunday, Fort Mill police charged a Fort Mill man with DUI after he allegedly rolled his Mercury Mountaineer SUV on Doby’s Bridge Road and had to be rescued after becoming trapped, according to a police report.
The SUV driven by Bradley Parker, 50, of 120 Classified Ct., “appears to have exited the roadway” near White’s Road “and rolled over several times into the wood line,” the report states. Parker’s leg was trapped in the floorboard. Police said he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person, and his speech was “badly slurred,” according to the report.
Parker, who refused a blood alcohol test, police said, was taken by EMS responders to a Carolinas Medical Center for treatment. Because Parker refused a blood alcohol test, he received an automatic license suspension.
