Judge’s reasoning faulty
When Administrative Law Judge Phillip Lenski gave permission to build a Fort Mill hospital to Piedmont Medical Center, one of the reasons he cited was that to not do so would cause potential economic harm to that hospital.
Why is that? Quite simply, it is because the hospital in Rock Hill operated by PMC has a reputation of being an inferior facility. So what kind of logic dictates that the answer to an inferior facility is to give them permission to build another one? What about the residents of the Fort Mill area? Don’t they deserve the best medical care?
It is unlikely they will get that from a new PMC facility. It appears the judge made a bad decision for the wrong reason.
