The first Fort Mill History Day was held this weekend in Walter Y. Elisha Park.
Hosted by the Fort Mill History Museum, the Saturday and Sunday event ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. It allowed visitors to walk a timeline that included Revolutionary and Civil War encampments and re-enactors of both World Wars, the War of 1812 and Vietnam. There was also sweetgrass basket making, a Catawba master potter and the Greenville Textile Heritage Band.
The museum, located across the street form the park, also brought in a replica of the H.L. Hunley, a Confederate submarine that was the first to sink an enemy warship.
