, Independence Day will be celebrated 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 4 at Hightower Hall, the antebellum home of John Bratton Jr. at Brattonsville in McConnells. The day will feature 19th century style festivities such as music and dancing, a militia muster, and children’s military drills. Participate in the English folk game called Rounders, which is similar to baseball, or in the Game of Graces, also known as French Hoops. Civilian Archers Society will be demonstrating target archery. Admission is $6, adults; $5, seniors; $3, ages 4-17 and free to CHM members and children age 3 and younger.
