Both the Fort Mill and Nation Ford marching bands impressed the judges at weekend competitions.
The Fort Mill School band won the 4A Upper State title at Boiling Springs and and advances to next week's finals at Spring Valley High School.
Fort Mill was among 13 bands competing for seven berths in the S.C. State Finals. Among other York County bands, Northwestern finished second and York was third.
The Jackets Marching Band is scheduled to perform at 9:15 p.m.

The defending South Carolina Band Directors Association Class 4-A marching band state champion Nation Ford High School finished second in the Tournament of Champions at Western Carolina University on Saturday and was named the Reserve Grand Champion.
State championship and Bands of America finalists from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia competed.
The Nation Ford Band’s next performance will be an exhibition at the State finals Saturday at Spring Valley. The band’s performance time is approximately 9:30 p.m. The Falcons’ competitive season culminates with the Bands of America Grand National Championships Nov. 12-15 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
