Fort Mill wrestlers qualify for JV state tournament

Eight local junior varsity wrestlers – three from Nation Ford and five from Fort Mill high schools – qualified last weekend to compete in the annual JV wrestling state finals in Lexington.

The JV tournaments is this Saturday.

Last weekend’s border sectional qualifier was held at Clover High School. Wrestlers needed to finish in the top four to advance. Wrestlers from York, Lancaster, Chester, Chesterfield, Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties competed.

Representing Nation Ford Saturday will be Joshua Paxtor at 113 pound. Brody Parks (182) and Dylan Curtsinger (138), who won his wight class. Paxtor and Parks both finished second. Fort Mill High wrestlers who qualified are Jared Pierce (120) and Ron'Tavious Hughes (138), who both finished second, Ian Weber (132, third) and Tyler Griffin (172) and Caden Haverson (195), both fourth in their weight class.
