The Nation Ford Lady Falcons stifled Fort Mill offensively as the team cruised to a 37-21 win over the Lady Jackets Friday.
Nation Ford improved to 2-4 in the region and Fort Mill fell to 2-5.
Nation Ford held Fort Mill to just 11 points through the first three quarters, as neither team look to have much offense in the first half.
“Active feet, active hands,” said Lady Falcons head coach Tamara Washington. “It was a great team defensive effort. Our defense made them take outside shots.”

The real offensive output in the game didn’t happen until the final quarter, when the two teams combined for 24 points.
“Our offense was terrible,” said Fort Mill head coach Brett Childers.
“We struggled. We got enough good looks to be in the game, we just didn’t make shots for it to be a game. We have been in almost every game, but our offense is behind our defense.”
Nation Ford outscored the Lady Jackets 14-10 with Alixis Roccia scoring eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter. Roccia and Haley Fulton, who had 10 points, all in the first half, led Nation Ford.
The Lady Falcons went to the line more often in the game, shooting a dozen free throws – most of them coming in the fourth quarter – while Fort Mill shot just four for the game.
Nation Ford jumped out to a 7-4 lead after the first quarter and then held Fort Mill to just three points in the second quarter on a trey from Meredith Christopher. The Lady Falcons also started hitting from long range as Fulton scored eight of her 10 points in the second quarter, including two from behind the arc.
In the third quarter, Fort Mill did get some production from its post players as Ally Abbott and Emily Ambrose both scored. Ambrose led the Lady Jackets with six points.
However, it was the quick guard play of Nation Ford that allowed the Lady Falcons to outscore Fort Mill 8-4 in the quarter.
In the final quarter, leading 23-11, Nation Ford continued to be aggressive with the basketball and as Roccia got hot, Fort Mill was finally able to hit from behind the arc. But it was too little, too late for the Lady Jackets at that point.
Fort Mill heads to York this week and will have an open date later in the week, while Nation Ford plays on the road at Clover and then Rock Hill on Friday.
