Strawberry Festival wins 2 state awards

Strawberry Festival wins 2 S.C. awards

The South Carolina Strawberry Festival was recognized by the South Carolina Festival and Event Association on Jan. 22 in two categories during the annual South Carolina Festival and Event Planners Conference and Trade Show.

Berry B. Good was awarded Mascot of the Year, which was the award’s inaugural year. Springs Farms was also recognized as Associate Member of the year for their work with the festival.

Festival Director Kimberly Starnes and Brown Simpson, parks and recreation director for Fort Mill, accepted the award on behalf of the Strawberry Festival Planning Committee.

“Winning for Best Mascot in its inaugural year is truly an honor and I couldn’t be happier to have Springs Farms recognized for all they bring to the festival,” Starnes said.

Mayor Danny Funderburk echoed those sentiments.

“The accolade for Springs Farms is special due to our partnership with them in everything from providing strawberries, sponsoring the Pick ‘N Flick and their hosting of the pig races,” he said. “The South Carolina Strawberry Festival continues to win awards because of the quality of our event and of the individuals who work so hard on the festival each year.”

The South Carolina Festival and Events Association presents its awards annually.
