A new place to eat has arrived in the Tega Cay area, but not in the way one would expect.
Mr. Jalapeno is a food truck owned by Casar Hernandez from Toluca, Mexico. He is bringing authentic food to Fort Mill’s streets and the stomachs.
“We sell original Mexican food. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, tortas, mole, tamales…” Hernandez said.
Hernandez, his girlfriend and his cooker serve upwards of 30 people per day, the majority of whom come during the lunchtime rush, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., having arrived to his current location on Dam Road only three weeks ago.

“We’re really busy, more than 20 or 30 people at the same time. Everybody’s like ‘Give me food cause I got to get back to work,’ so we’re working very hard, my cooker, me and my girlfriend. It’s crazy. So in 30 or 40 minutes, we’re done," Hernandez said.
The decision was simple when choosing a location.
“My father works on the junkyard. My father told me it’s a good location for food because there’s a lot of construction in that place, so I came here asking the owner of the property. The owner told me yes, so here I am,” he said.
Located next to Miller’s Auto Salvage and Garage, many of the people who come to Hernandez’s truck include those who work at the garage, as well as construction workers and those just passing by.
Although his english is limited, Hernandez wants to make sure everyone feels welcome. His first step to accomplishing this was through the name of his business.
“I don’t know, I looked at some different names some Mexican guys try, different foods. Jalapeno everybody knows, whether American or…everybody knows Mr. Jalapeno.”
Mr. Jalapeno food truck is on Dam Road in Tega Cay next to Millers Auto Salvage and Garage. It is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
