First neighborhood in 670-acre development on Lake Wylie named

McLean has its list of builders and plans for its first new neighborhood.

A 670-acre community on the shores of Lake Wylie, McLean will begin with the South Shore neighborhood. Builders will be John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods, Peachtree Residential, Andrew Roby, McSpadden Custom Homes, New Old, Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Fairwood Residential and J. Barwick Construction.

Lakefront and lake-view homes will range from $400,000 to more than $1 million.

“This is an exciting time for McLean as we prepare for our builders to start home construction,” said Steven Hinshaw with developer NW Lake Wylie. “We are thrilled with the team of builders that we have assembled and the designs and quality that they will bring to the community.”

John Wieland and Peachtree will construct model homes in South Shore that should be completed as early as the first quarter 2016. Home construction is expected to start late summer as final infrastructure improvements are completed, Hinshaw said.

Home sites will range from approximately one-half acre to more than an acre. Most of the lakefront homes are expected to have individual docks while off-water homeowners will be able to store boats at the adjacent Harbortowne Marina or within a community storage yard, Hinshaw said. The developer intends to develop another marina complex on the property.

South Shore will offer an extensive system of parks, fitness trails and green spaces. Aclubhouse and pool overlooking the water will provide views down the main channel of Lake Wylie.
