A new commercial development should open in early 2016 on Charlotte Highway.
Lake Pointe Self Storage is a 72,000-square-foot facility at 4180 Charlotte Highway, near Lake Wylie Woods, and will include climate-controlled and traditional storage units. Also planned are more than 70 spaces for boats.
“With the marinas being full, hopefully we can serve that market,” said David Buist with Fort Mill-based Ferrara-Buist Co.
The Tuttle Co. construction plan shows an office on the southern end of the property and storage units in the back right corner. A sign at the site shows a 10-acre parcel with four smaller parcels fronting Charlotte Highway.

““We’re marketing those where we feel like it will be perfect for retail or restaurant outparcels,” Buist said.
The entrance to the storage units will be near Lake Wylie Woods. The other side of the property borders Spurrier Court.
Libby McElduff, who has lives in a lakefront home at end of Spurrier along with a handful of neighbors, wasn’t surprised to hear a development is coming.
“I knew it was going to come someday,” she said. “I just feel we were fortunate to have lived here 29 years before it happened.”
McElduff is interested to know if new development will warrant paving Spurrier, a gravel road.
“We’re hoping they might pave the road,” she said.
Buist said access to the storage facility and outparcels will come from the main highway, which likely wouldn’t require work to Spurrier. Buist does not have tenants lined up for the outparcel spaces.
