About 100 people came out Aug. 7 to Oakridge Elementary School for the grand opening and to tour the new facility.
Clover School District Marc Sosne said the district began talking about the new elementary school in 2007 as Larne Elementary and Oakridge Middle schools were being built.
“From 2007 until now 2016 to see it come to fruition is just amazing,” Sosne said.
The new school was part of $99 million construction bond referendum passed in 2014.

“Today is a celebration to see how your tax dollars are spent, and we hope you’re very proud of the facility that will serve your children,” Sosne said.
He expects the new school to be in operation for 70 or more years.
“Please know that you are always welcome to volunteer your time,” said Principal Lori Maczko. “This is for the community.”
A ribbon cutting celebration was held later that day at the new Clover Middle School on Highway 55 and Barrett Road in Clover.
