Despite finishing fourth in the Greater Charlotte Swim League Division III All-Star meet, the Springfield Greenwave will move up to a harder division next year.
Springfield was named dual meet champions for Division III with a regular season record of 5-1, but came up short in the All-Star meet held at the Mecklenburg Aquatics Center.
“We were missing a lot of swimmers,” said Springfield head coach Nate Whyte. “If we had all our swimmers I think we would have finished in the top two or three.”
Weddington Chase won the meet, but second through fourth place was separated by just 42 points. Springfield scored 1,309 points for fourth and was edged out by Mountainbrook for third with 1,317 points. Bridge Hampton finished second with 1,351 points.
