Nation Ford golfers tie Lancaster, beat York

The Nation Ford Falcons tied Lancaster and beat York in one of their last matches heading into the Region 3 tournament this week.

One positive aspect for Nation Ford is that the region tournament will be played at the Falcons’ home course at Springfield Golf Club.

The region tournament is scheduled for April 30 and will consist of 36 holes played over one day.

Against Lancaster and York, Nation Ford shot a 167, which tied with Lancaster. York shot 174 in the match, played at Springfield.

Leading the way for the Falcons was Will Howell, who shot a 40. Nolan Wood followed with a 41, and Reed Strawhorn shot a 42.

Rounding out the scoring for Nation Ford was Mac Brindle with a 44.

Earlier in the week, Nation Ford played another three-way match against Fort Mill and Clover at Springfield but didn’t fare as well, losing to both schools.

Clover won the match, shooting a 166, compared to Fort Mill’s 177 and the Falcons’ 182.

Nation Ford was led by Grant Bridges’ 43, followed by a 45 from Howell.

Ross Jasper finished with a 46, and Brian Smelewski finished with a 47 to round out the scoring for the Falcons.

For Fort Mill, Cam Marshall shot a 43 to lead the Jackets.

Austin Hite was a shot behind with a 44, and both Ryan Seco and Dalton Vickers finished with 45.
