A Rock Hill man is accused of beating up another man on a porch after an argument about rumors that he was sleeping with the victim’s wife.
Rock Hill police on Friday charged Darrell Bernard Pearson, 29, of Martin Avenue, with unlawfully carrying a pistol and third-degree assault and battery, according to booking records. Authorities say Pearson’s criminal history prevents him from possessing firearms.
Pearson, whose nickname is “Twin,” is accused of assaulting a 43-year-old man on King Drive on Tuesday, according to a police report. The victim called police after Pearson punched him in the face, “slammed him on the ground” and “grabbed a long-barreled handgun and pointed it at him,” the report states.
At the time, the victim was at a neighbor’s house, he told police, when Pearson arrived and asked him “why he was going around telling people he was sleeping with (the victim’s) wife.”
