Police are looking for a former Walmart employee accused of stealing more than $1,300 from cash registers at least 15 times within a month.
On Monday, a Walmart loss prevention employee told police that a former female cashier at the Old York Road store had been caught stealing cash out of different registers from the store, according to a Rock Hill police report. Officials with the store determined that the woman, 19, of York, stole $1,380 from the store’s registers on several occasions.
The thefts began on May 15, when the woman is accused of taking $60. Over time, amounts she’s accused of stealing spanned between $80 to $200 per register, police documents show.
Police obtained surveillance video, photographs and other documents corroborating the claim, the report states. The loss prevention employee told police the woman is no longer employed at the store and is likely unaware that her thefts have been uncovered. Police issued arrest warrants on the woman that will charge her with breach of trust. By Thursday, she had not been arrested.
