A Clover man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother for Xanax pills, a York County sheriff’s report states.
Police and emergency medical services were called to a Shelterwood Road residence last week in reference to an assault and battery and a possible heart attack. The 76-year-old victim said that her son, Johnny Batchler, 37, asked for eight Xanax pills from her bedroom and she refused to give them to him, the report states.
After she refused, the report states that Batchler allegedly yelled at her and pulled her by her arms towards the bedroom. The victim grew frightened and felt like she was having a heart attack, the report said. She fell, and Batchler pulled her to her feet to get the Xanax, the report states.
When deputies arrived, Batchler told officers he had smoked crack cocaine before asking for the Xanax. He also said he was pulling his mother’s arms to help her off the floor, the report states.
