Thieves target Highway Patrol car at Rock Hill body shop

Hundreds of dollars in equipment was stolen recently from a South Carolina Highway Patrol car parked at a Rock Hill body shop.

The car, a 2008 Ford F-150 that is marked as a Highway Patrol vehicle, was parked in the secured lot of Edwards Body Shop on Black Street from Dec. 29 through Jan. 19, a Rock Hill police report states.

When the car was picked up, Highway Patrol officers noticed the car’s radio, emergency lights and control panel were all missing.

The owner of the body shop said he didn’t notice any signs of forced entry on the car and security cameras at his business or surrounding business showed no signs of suspicious activity.

The equipment taken from the car was worth about $1,500.
