A Rock Hill school bus driver is on leave while police investigate an allegation he pushed and hit a young boy.
On Friday morning, Rock Hill police officers spoke to a man who said his 7-year-old step-son said the bus driver, a 53-year-old man, pushed him into a seat and “punched him in the chest hard enough to make him cry and then vomit,” according to a police report.
The boy was in trouble for standing up and not sitting in his seat, the report states.
The parent made the complaint directly with the police before notifying the school district, said Rock Hill School District spokeswoman Elaine Baker. District officials have since been in contact with the student’s parents.

Video from the bus did not show the alleged assault, Baker added.
The bus driver will remain on leave until the investigation is complete, Baker said.
