Lancaster youth, 17, dies after Friday shooting, coroner says

A teen shot late Friday night in Lancaster has died, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

Deputy Coroner Jennifer Collins identified the 17-year-old as Daquan Blackmon of Lancaster.

A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Aug. 23, Collins said.

Police were called around 10:15 p.m. Friday after shots were heard east of downtown, near Hughes and Gay streets, Lancaster Police Department Chief Scott Grant said.

Minutes later, police were notified of a gunshot victim at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The victim had been taken by a private vehicle to the hospital. Police determined the shooting incident happened in the 400 block of East Arch Street in Lancaster, Grant said.

The victim was then airlifted to a Charlotte hospital.

No arrests have been made.
