A 23-year-old Charlotte man was arrested in York on drug charges after he tried to eat a “green leafy substance” before deputies could take it, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies responded to a possible burglary at 6 p.m. Monday on Wood Road, the report says.
A man told police his brother, who owns the house, was out of town, and only the owner’s daughter was expected to be in the house, the report says.
The man wanted police with him as he checked the house after getting reports of another man inside, the report says.
Deputies said when he opened the door, there was an “overwhelming smell of marijuana,” the report says.
The 23-year-old came out of a back room and told police he was watching a dog for the homeowner’s daughter, the report says.
Deputies asked where the marijuana was, and the man picked up a dish holding a “green leafy substance” and said he was going to get rid of it, the report says.
Deputies told him to stop, but he tried to eat it, even when deputies tried to grab it from him, the report says.
He is charged with possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice. He has two prior drug charges, the report says.
