Fourth person arrested in June York County kidnapping, assault case
The York County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a fourth person after a man told police he had been tackled, tied up and robbed in a Gordon Road home in June.
Anthony Linder, 30, was transported to York County from the Spartanburg County Detention Center Tuesday morning. He has been charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The victim told police he had tried to collect his belongings on June 19 from the Gordon Road home near Rock Hill, where he had been staying.
He told deputies a man, later identified as Linder, answered the door and pulled him inside, where a woman later identified as 61-year-old Donna Cearfoss pointed a gun at him, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.
Cearfoss was arrested June 20 and charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The victim said he was tackled, tied up to a kitchen chair with zip-ties and forced to empty his pockets, the report says. The victim said the man hit him in the face several times, and that people in the home were “questioning him about putting explosives underneath the house,” the report says.
Deputies said the victim had been staying at the house for several days. The victim told deputies he knew the people “were probably delusional from using narcotics, and that is why they were questioning him about such topics,” the report says.
Deputies responded to the incident at about 4 p.m. June 19 after they received a report of an injured man at a York Highway business, about a mile from the Gordon Road house. The victim had “obvious injury to his person, and had blood all over his clothes and face area,” the report says.
A search warrant was issued for the Gordon Road property and a SWAT team was called to assist in serving the warrant.
Deputies found blood stains where the victim said he was tied up, the report says.
The report says several items were stolen from the victim’s car while it was parked at the house.
Chelsea Murray, 24, and Karla Ashe, 43, were each charged with theft from a motor vehicle and petit larceny.
