A York man tried to stop a car break-in. Then he heard a gun cock.

A York man was trying to stop a car break-in suspect when the suspect pulled a gun on him, he told police.

The man said he heard a car alarm just after 7 p.m. Tuesday on Blessed Hope Road in York, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

He said he walked outside and saw a man running away from the car, the report says.

He yelled at the suspect, who dropped some items and ran down the road, the report says.

The man told police he followed the suspect until he “heard a sound like a gun cocking,” and the suspect asked him if he “wanted to die today,” the report says.

Two women told police their cars had been robbed. Both cars had broken windows, the report says.

One car, a 206 black BMW 5301, was missing a brown Coach purse with cash and sunglasses inside. The items stolen were worth $103, and the damage to the car was $250, the report says.

The second woman said her 2016 Chevy Tahoe had been broken into and was missing a Kate Spade purse with her Kate Spade wallet, checkbook and cards inside. The items stolen from the Tahoe totaled $462, the report says.

K-9 Units were called to the scene but were not able to find the suspect, the report says.
