Police have charged a Charlotte teen after they say a driver hit a Fort Mill school crossing guard Friday afternoon and fled the scene.
Johnny Clifton IV, 19, has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving minor injury, according to Fort Mill police.
Clifton is in custody at the Fort Mill Police Department and his bond has been set at $5,000, according to a statement from police spokesman Maj. Bryan Zachary Saturday.
Police said shortly before 3 p.m., a driver hit school crossing guard Gary Tate, 58, of Charlotte, near the entrance of Fort Mill Middle School near Springfield Parkway, and left the scene.

Tate was transferred by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, Zachary said, and the suspect was located.
Tate has been discharged from the hospital.
