York County Sheriff’s Office asks for public help in shootings where bullets struck homes
The York County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help solving several shooting cases that occurred near one another in the Rock Hill area.
A series of shootings the past two weeks occurred in the Ogden and Rambo roads area, according to the sheriff’s office. Three homes were struck by bullets and six more reports of gunfire in the area were given between Aug. 9 and Aug. 17. One incident happened in the Rock Hill Police Department jurisdiction and the rest were in the county, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office doesn’t know if the shootings are related, spokesperson Trent Faris said Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says a reward is in place for tips that lead to an arrest. Though, the reward amount wasn’t given. Tips can be made anonymously at crimestoppersofyorkcounty.com or the P3 Tips app.
If a credible tip leads to an arrest, the Crime Stoppers board will decide and approve an amount, Faris said. Crime Stoppers of York County is a partnership with the sheriff’s office and police departments for Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover, York, Tega Cay, the Catawba Nation and Winthrop University.
The shootings are irresponsible and incredibly dangerous, said Sheriff Kevin Tolson.
“Any information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation,” he said.
The sheriff’s office also shared a link to video of the shootings.
Tips also can be submitted by calling 1-877-409-4321.
